Isn’t it weird that somehow it became the norm to purchase a mattress online and it shows up all smushed in a box? I’m pretty sure mattress stores are still a thing…but I’m here with the trends of convenience. I didn’t want to spend upwards of $3,000 either, which is usually the average price tag you get when buying from a mattress store, so I took to the interwebs to find something I could get down with.

For those just joining me, my husband and I bought our first house in the summer of 2019. We knew it’d take a lot of time to decorate and furnish our house but one of the first orders of business was to upgrade our bed. We had been sleeping on the mattress Ky bought from Costco when we first started dating on the IKEA furniture I got for my first apartment in college. IT WAS TIME.

We knew that we wanted to upgrade to a king size but the unfortunate thing about that was that the size upgrade meant new needing a bed frame, pillows, sheets, duvet, etc. which brings up the grand total quite a bit.

I had been hearing about affordable Amazon mattresses and spent weeks comparing reviews and reading up about the other brands out there – Tuft and Needle, Casper, Purple, etc. etc. etc. and finally decided that Amazon was worth trying out.

I purchased mine on Black Friday and the price dropped to just below $400 which is what finally made me pull the trigger. This mattress has over 8,000 reviews and is almost at 5 stars!

OK SO WHAT DO I THINK?

It’s tough to know after just a few nights but that first week I slept great and so did Ky. It has been 9 months at this point and I would definetly recommend this mattress. It’d be great for a guest room – we actually got another one to put in our basement guest room since that almost 10 year old mattress we were sleeping on had ?? to ?? go ??. It’s a little firmer, but comes in a narrow box and expands in a little over 24 hours. The setup was easy and the box was relatively easy to move.

I would say the gel foam has helped the most temperature wise keeping us both cool sleeping in bed together. Men run sweaty… I have noticed I’m able to more comfortably touch Ky in the night without dying of heat blast.

I asked Ky his honest thoughts without sharing mine and he said about the same thing except that he likes that he can’t feel me getting up in the morning before him – it used to wake him up – but he said he can barely feel me move at all.

The only complaint I have right now is that my pillows are too small for the size of a king and I also just need good pillows. Do you have a pillow that you love? I need big comfy pillows that aren’t too firm but look proportional on a king sized bed. Let me know in the comments below!
